Alpha Gamma Delta combines both fund raising and service to help organizations and people in need.  Since our founding, we believe in welcoming the opportunity to contributing to the world's work and the joy of service.  Historically, in 1919 Alpha Gamma Delta was the first women's fraternity to establish an International Altruistic Project: a summer camp for underprivileged children. Since 1979, diabetes has been Alpha Gamma Delta's philanthropic focus. Through the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, large grants are made annually to organizations and individuals for diabetes research, treatment and education.  The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation assists members through scholarship grants, wellness programs, leadership training and workshops.  Members in emergency financial need are also aided through the support of the Foundation.
The Alpha Sigma Chapter at IUP holds an annual event in the fall, Mr. IUP, a male talent contest, the success of which has resulted in Alpha Sigma being honored as a Jewel Chapter by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation for the last 17consecutive years.  We also contribute to other causes off campus as well as participating in other campus organizations' fun philanthropy events throughout the school year.
